Reports to: Director of Education

Location: 441 West Kirkpatrick Street, Syracuse NY

Part Time: July 7-August 14, 20-22 hours per week

We serve and support anyone who seeks guidance in learning. This can include children, adults, families, parents, and caregivers from all backgrounds as well as learning styles.

About the Role

LAUNCH Summer Learning program is based on social emotional and experiential learning. Teacher will be responsible for utilizing Second Step curriculum and preparing small group lessons for children ages 8-18 who are OPWDD eligible.

Teachers will create a relaxed classroom environment, encourage students to participate and provide individualized support to each student. Teachers will facilitate positive interactions between students and support students in their SEL.

Our philosophy is to show children that learning can be a positive experience and we expect our teachers to exemplify that philosophy in the classroom and community on weekly fieldtrips.

Education & Experience

New York State Certified, required

Special Education, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Required skills include: Ability to differentiate lessons, integrate multi-age instructional strategies, lesson design, critical thinking, basic technology/e-mail, reading comprehension, effective written and verbal expression.

Conditions of Employment

Must possess a valid driver’s license and transportation necessary to meet program needs.
