Job Title: Patient Registrar (Bilingual)
Location: New York, NY 10065
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $18–$23 (hourly)
Job Summary:
The Patient Registrar will be responsible for greeting patients, verifying insurance, collecting patient information, and ensuring accurate and efficient registration. This role plays a vital part in the patient care journey by serving as the first point of contact and ensuring all necessary administrative tasks are completed accurately and with empathy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and register patients in a professional and courteous manner.
- Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information.
- Input patient data into electronic medical records (EMR) systems accurately.
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments as needed.
- Communicate with healthcare staff to coordinate patient flow and appointment logistics.
- Collect copayments and provide receipts; balance daily cash intake.
- Respond to inquiries from patients and families regarding services, billing, and insurance.
- Ensure all required forms and signatures are obtained prior to appointments or admissions.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA.
- Provide exceptional customer service and resolve concerns in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare administrative or customer service role (preferred).
- Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance verification processes.
- Proficiency with EMR systems and basic computer applications.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and compassionate in high-pressure situations.
- Bilingual is a plus but not required.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED, with completion of an approved Medical Assistant program.
