Job Title: Iceplex Facilities Technician

Reports To: Building Maintenance Supervisor

Department: IcePlex

Classification: Non-exempt

Grade: 11

Supervises: No supervisor responsibilities

Job Summary:

The role of an Iceplex Facilities Technician is to perform and assist in any duty needed for the operation of the IcePlex; including, but not limited to, ice re-surfacers and ice maintenance, unit operation repairs, equipment repairs, refuse/recycling, safety, cleaning, property maintenance and all other duties assigned.

Essential Functions:

• Will assist Building Maintenance Supervisor with general repairs, maintenance, and/or service.
• Assist with the ice re-surfacer and machines including keeping in good working condition and clean
• Assist in the preventive maintenance of all corporate equipment
• Assist with the refuse/recycling or delivery as needed
• Assist with carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other mechanical work as assigned
• Assist with snow removal and lawn maintenance as needed
• Assists where needed to cover absences of other employees
• Provides safe, clean daily ice maintenance using the ice edger, chopper and ice re-surfacer machine
• Assures that proper procedures are followed for cleaning and maintaining the lobby, locker rooms, and restrooms according to checklist
• Provides daily building opening and closing procedures, ensuring that all areas of the building are properly cleaned, resupplied, and secured
• Sharpen skates and repairs rental skates
• Assists with setups for special functions
• Responsible for covering specified shifts in the Pro Shop. Including but not limit performing duties of sales clerk, responsibility for cash drawer, receipts and deposits
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Maintenance Supervisor. In the absence of the Supervisor, will coordinate with the Associate Director of the Iceplex

Education and Experience:

High School graduate or equivalent; previous janitorial or maintenance; must have a NYS Driver’s License

Physical Conditions and Demands:

Be able to work in extreme temperatures and tight quarters; this is a strenuous job that requires climbing, pushing/pulling, and frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.; nights and weekends are required. This employee may need to work split shifts, night hours or weekends, to cover as needed.
