West Valley Cleanup Alliance is the prime contractor selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Phase 1B Deactivation & Demolition Contract at the West Valley Demonstration Project site. The site is a scenic 30-minute drive south of Buffalo, New York. In cooperation with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, West Valley Demonstration Project continues to decontaminate and decommission facilities at this site.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Sr Supervisor is responsible for the quantity and quality of work through planning, organizing, and directing the actions of operators, technicians, or maintenance personnel and ensuring work is performed in compliance with procedures, policies, and industrial safety practices.
REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of eight (8) years of supervisory experience and demonstrated performance and knowledge of assigned work area(s)
- Additional education may be substituted for experience on a case-by-case basis

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of radiological controls or experience working in a radiological environment
- Knowledge of or experience in emergency management
- Plant system operation experience that can include a variety of products (Food, manufacturing, and or waste disposal).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/SCOPE OF WORK
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following established safe work practices and procedures; including following all safety rules, use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE), investigating and reporting identified safety concerns or situations.
- Implement and adhere to standards contained in the Company “Code of Conduct,” Company EEO practices, and DOE directives.
- Implement Integrated Safety Management Systems (ISMS) and their guiding principles and core functions into the management and work practices at all levels of the planning and execution of work.
- Implement standards contained in the Company “Code of Business Ethics and Conduct”, Corporate EEO practices, and DOE directives.
- Ensure the safety of all employees.
- Ensure all employees in assigned work group are knowledgeable of system safety aspects and comply with all procedures and work documents.
- Ensure proper logs are kept and equipment malfunctions or procedural problems are identified and described in appropriate work documents.
- Plan work and schedule crew assignments.
- Recommend modifications to operating policies.
- Supervise more than one system or group, based on knowledge and experience.
- Participate in cross-cultural committees and may also participate in the management team for union negotiations.
- Participate in problem solving activities at WVDP facility or another facility.
- Act as a liaison with other groups for specific phases of a project or operation as necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains department staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment, and developing personal growth opportunities.
- Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, appraising job results, coaching, counseling, disciplining employees, developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
- Establishes department strategic goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, service, and operations information, identifying and evaluating trends and options, choosing a course of action, defining objectives, and evaluating outcomes.
- Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
