Chief Dietitian/ Director of Nutritional Services- Full Time
The Chief Clinical Dietitian functions as the Supervisor to the Clinical Nutrition Staff, coordinating inpatient clinical nutrition services. Maintains open communication between the medical and nursing staff and all ancillary services regarding medical nutrition issues. The right candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing staff, implementing, evaluating and regulating the Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility, and to assure that quality nutritional services are provided daily and that the department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assuring appropriate nutritional care for all residents according to physician orders, state/ federal regulations, and resident care plans
- Assuring that the dietitian’s notes on the medical records are accurate, on time, and are informative and descriptive of the nutritional care provided and of the resident’s response to the service
- Training staff on the operation of the GeriMenu computer system
- Recruiting, hiring, and staffing the work area at appropriate levels
- Assisting and participating in the quality assurance process, ensuring quality performance, in conformance with regulations, standards, and laws, and customer satisfaction
- Promoting cooperative working relationships between departments
Qualifications:
NURSING HOME EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Must be a REGISTERED DIETITIAN
Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from an accredited college or university
Must possess a current, unencumbered active license to practice as a dietitian in NY State
Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in a long-term care setting
Must have training in food management and medical nutrition therapy
Effective communication skills and be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

Nutritional services are carefully monitored by our dietitians and special consideration is given to meet each resident's nutritional needs.
