This is a full-time, on-site role for a Machinist/Toolmaker, located in Long Island, NY.

The Machinist/Toolmaker will be responsible for setting up and maintaining various machines to produce precision metal parts and instruments.

They will work with blueprints, sketches, and CAD files to create tools and components to precise specifications.

Daily tasks will include selecting the appropriate tools and materials, ensuring equipment is properly calibrated, maintaining quality control, and trouble-shooting issues with machinery.

The role also involves working closely with engineers and other staff to ensure efficient production, maintain a secure work environment and to meet project specifications.
Qualifications

Experience with operating machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines.
Is to repair live tool holders and accessories for company. Disassemble, clean, evaluate, order parts, and re-assemble -
Hold extremely tight tolerance, (1-5 MICRONS) on rotating assemblies.

Support the Service and Applications departments by fully utilizing all standard machine shop tools, including: manual lathes, mills, grinders, saws, hones, and hand tools.

Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.

Design and make custom tooling for production machines

Taking precise measurements and marking materials for cutting or shaping.

Selecting appropriate tools and machine settings for each task.

Machining multiple types of metal alloys and/or plastics to tight tolerances

Secondary job function:

Following safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment.

Retro fit parts
-
Performing routine maintenance on CNC equipment to keep them in optimal condition (I.E. lathes, milling machines, grinders, and air compressor).

Inspecting finished parts for defects and ensuring they meet specifications.
Note: Machinists often work in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and other industries that require precision-engineered components. They need strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and proficiency in using measuring instruments.
