Job DescriptionSalary: $62,400 to $64,200

Global Kids (GK) educates, inspires, and empowers youth to become global citizens who are actively engaged in the world and prepared for their future. The site director will manage our youth development programming atone of our Brooklyn, New York, sites. The Director will be responsible for overseeing various core components of our Out-of-School-Time programming.

This includes managing Social and Emotional wellness programs, college and career preparation initiatives, academic enrichment activities, and service-learning opportunities. We are specifically looking for a candidate who is well-equipped to oversee global education and youth leadership programming, fostering a sense of global awareness and empowering young individuals to become leaders in their communities.

The ideal candidate for this position will have prior experience in leadership roles, demonstrating a proven track record of success in building and maintaining strong partnerships withinNew York City public schools.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Design & Implementation

  • Collaborate with other GK program staff and theDirector of Curriculum on developing yearly curriculum maps aligned with GK outcomes, SONYC program model, and contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate and write interactive experiential workshops and activities for GKs weekly school-based after-schoolprograms.
  • Lead/co-facilitate after-schoolactivities as needed
  • Design programs and activities appropriate for middle school students focusing on social-emotionalhealth, STEM, global and local issues, service learning, and other content areas.
  • Organize special events such as field trips, mini-conferences, family nights, and performances
  • Ensure student and Global Kids staff participation in GK citywide events.
  • Occasional overnight and long-distance travel required (annual overnight middle school retreat, college trips, annual out-of-statetrip).
  • Data collection using the Global Kids data management tool.

Contract Management & Administrative Tasks

  • Maintain Department of Health (DOH) SACC license for school site, including up-to-datepersonnel files; manage DOH site visits.
  • Oversee and conduct attendance outreach, recruitment, and retention services,including attendance monitoring/data review, data entry, conferences, and attendance incentive activities and phone calls to comply with GK and SONYC requirements.
  • Remain informed on current DYCD guidelines and contractor responsibilities by attending provider meetings and maintaining contact with theDYCD Program Manager.
  • Ensure all staff members are aware of, and follow, any changes and new developments to theprogram and contractual expectations,
    guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensure all program and student records (digital and hard copy) are securely maintained, including but not limited to workshops, field trips, student attendance, and incentive forms.
  • Follow all fiscal procedures for ordering supplies and reporting on expenses
  • Submit quarterly program reports

Supervision and Management

  • Manage all day-to-day operations on site and ensure the implementation of quality programming.
  • Provide overall support and supervision for school-based staff, including full and part-time education staff, interns, and teaching artists
  • Supervise daily management of tasks (delegate appropriately) facilitate weekly check-ins, conduct program/staff observations with immediate feedback, conduct formal performance evaluations, and individual check-ins.
  • Review and approve bi-weekly time sheets and school sign-in sheets.
  • Collaborate with key members of the Global Kids staff to recruit, screen, and hire full-time and part-time program staff.

Partnerships

  • Help navigate, secure resources, and build/sustain relationships with participants, parents, school staff, other CBOs, and policy makers.
  • Partner with school staff (principals, faculty, guidance counselors, parent coordinators, facilities staff) to ensure high-qualityand safe programming.
  • Provide youth and families with guidance and referrals for social services

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree in related field and 3 years relevant professional experience, or a bachelors degree and 6 years relevant professional experience
  • Approved DOH SACC Director or SACC accreditation.
  • Experience supervising personnel and managing teams
  • Experience working in or closely with NYC public schools
  • Experience with or deep knowledge of DYCD SONYC programs or school-based after-school programs
  • Experience with and enthusiasm forusing interactive learning strategies with middle school-agedyouth
  • Commitment to and understanding of working in culturally diverse settings and using antiracist pedagogical practices
  • Knowledge of and passion for global issues, political science, history, education and social justice, and human rights
  • Excellent facilitation, consensus-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic, initiative, creativity, willingness to learn, and ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Strong communication, writing, organizational, and technology skills.
  • Fluency in other languages isa plus

SALARY AND BENEFITS: This full-time exempt position has an annual salary of $62,400 to $64,200. GK also offers affordable medical benefits (with plans as low as $1/month), dental, and life insurance as well as paid holidays, 12 vacation days (year 1), increasing thereafter based on years of employment, 3 personal days, and 8 sick days. Additionally, the GK offices are closed between Christmas and New Years Day. GK staff also have access to retail discounts and other benefits through our Professional Employer Organization (PEO).
