The Position will be responsible for operating and maintaining precision grinding equipment to produce complex, high-tolerance components for the aerospace and defense sectors. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of grinding processes, particularly for aerospace and defense applications, and possess the ability to work with fine attention to detail, ensuring flawless results for mission-critical parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate surface, cylindrical, and other grinding machines to fabricate components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine product specifications.
- Inspect parts during and after grinding processes to ensure adherence to strict tolerances and quality standards.
- Utilize precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges) to verify dimensions and ensure accurate results.
- Apply finesse and careful attention to detail to ensure smooth finishes, minimal defects, and impeccable final products for aerospace and defense applications.
- Perform routine maintenance on grinding equipment to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
- Follow strict safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any grinding-related issues or malfunctions, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to identify and resolve any discrepancies or defects in parts.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including time spent, materials used, and results.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certifications or trade school training preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a grinding role, with preference given to candidates with aerospace or defense manufacturing experience.
- Proficiency with grinding and Sanding equipment, including surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and Orbital Sanders
- Strong understanding of machining processes, particularly related to aerospace and defense components.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and blueprints.
- Experience with precision measuring tools and inspection techniques.
- A natural ability to work with finesse, paying meticulous attention to detail to ensure high-quality results.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
