As we expand our growing Outpatient medical group, we are seeking an Endocrinology Medical Assistant to our team! Job Overview: This Endocrinology Medical Assistant role requires a combination of clinical skills, administrative capabilities, and excellent patient care. The Medical Assistant serves as a crucial link between patients and healthcare providers.
· Position/Title: Medical Assistant
· Specialty: Endocrinology
· Location: Options for Briarcliff Manor (Briarcliff Manor, NY)
· Schedule: Monday to Friday / 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (1 hr. break) & (40 hr. week)
· Salary: $22.00 - $26
Clinical Responsibilities
- Ensures proper preparation for patient visit
- Demonstrates clinical competence in the direct care of patients in established area(s) of practice and assisting MDs with procedures
- Performs clinical duties within scope of practice complying with the accepted department standards, policies, and protocols
- Demonstrates a proactive approach to patient care, focusing on addressing each patient’s individual and family needs at the time of service; communicates identified needs in a timely manner
- Demonstrated clinical competence when assisting physician/mid-level healthcare professional and/or nurse during exams and office diagnostic procedures/treatments
- Performs authorized procedures competently (i.e., vital signs, vision screening, selected laboratory tests) as directed by physician or nurse in clinical practice area
Administrative Duties
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow
- Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and process faxes
- Maintain electronic medical records (EMR) and ensure accurate documentation
- Reviews and updates medication list and accurately documents known allergies in the Electronic Health Record
- Demonstrates an understanding of prescription control and prescription refill procedures
- Accurately documents allergies in EHR
- Appropriately enters orders and schedules appointments
- Provides referrals and/or consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner
Patient Care and Education
- Prepares e-prescriptions for processing to pharmacies when instructed to do so by physician
- Inspects, cleans/prepares and processes instruments/equipment according to manufacturers’ guidelines
- Processes specimens for transport to laboratory, ensuring that specimens are properly labeled and appropriate orders have been placed
- Provide patients with post-procedure instructions and educational materials.
- Explain proper use of prescribed medications and medical devices
Qualifications:
- High School graduate/diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) – (Required)
- Graduate of an accredited Certified Medical Assistant Program/School (Required)
- Minimum 1 year experience in an outpatient medical office, orthopedic practice or other ambulatory-surgical setting. (Required)
- BLS Certification (Preferred)
