The construction practice is a cornerstone of the firm, known for its excellence in handling complex litigation and transactional matters.
The team are seeking a skilled and ambitious Construction Attorney, with a transactional & litigation background, to join their esteemed construction law practice group. This role offers the chance to work alongside industry-leading Attorneys on high-profile construction litigation cases. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in construction law, a strong advocacy skill set, and a dedication to achieving outstanding client outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in complex construction litigation matters, including disputes involving nonpayment, extra work, payment and performance bond claims, delays, design and construction defects, mechanic’s liens, terminations, and defaults
- Draft and file sophisticated pleadings, motions, and other legal documents in state and federal courts
- Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis to drive case strategies
- Lead settlement negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and trials with confidence
- Advise clients across the construction industry, including owners, contractors, and sureties, on both public and private projects
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and mentor junior associates to execute effective litigation strategies
What they need:
- J.D. (2015 – 2022 graduate year)
- Admitted in NY (additional admission in New Jersey is a plus)
- 5-10 years of experience in construction litigation or commercial litigation with a significant focus on construction-related matter, background in transactional matters is highly desirable
- Deep knowledge of New York and/or New Jersey mechanic’s lien laws and construction industry practices
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
