SUMMARY: Performs high quality Radiographic exams as directed by the Radiologist. Assists in the daily routines of the Imaging Department. Responsible for performing any procedures that are part of General Radiology, including special procedures, OR cases, portable exams, etc. This is in accordance with approved techniques, policies and regulatory standards as established by regulatory agencies, standards and policies set forth by the organization. Adheres to the professional standards of the NYS Department of Health, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs direct patient care: Applies knowledge of anatomy, positioning and radiographic techniques for each exam. Determines exposure factors to achieve optimum radiographic techniques with minimum radiation exposure. Follows the ALARA principle in incorporating collimation and shielding in accordance with policy and procedures. Performs any special procedures as part of DI services, prepares contrast media for exams as needed. Greets Patients/family in professional manner and can adequately listen and take care of patient concerns or refer concerns as needed. Utilizes two patient identifiers per policy, verifies Provider order accuracy, educates patients pre/during and post procedure. Ensures that patients are properly dressed and prepped for all exams.

Maintains Equipment, supplies, cleanliness and Safety: Follows CPH Infection control P&amp;P with regards to Isolation, universal precautions, cleansing of equipment. Maintains an adequate amount of supplies within exam rooms as needed for schedule. Performs daily QA/QC on equipment as required per manufacturer and/or NYS-reports any mechanical issues or system errors to Biomed Department. Wears radiation film badge per guidelines and turns in each month for monitoring. Provides assistance to Peers and Patients in transporting, transferring, and standing of patients, following safe handling guidelines.

A CT Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures using computed tomography (CT) equipment to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring patients’ medical conditions. This role involves preparing patients for scans, operating advanced imaging machinery, ensuring high-quality images, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for patients. The CT Tech must follow established protocols, adhere to radiation safety regulations, and work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate imaging and optimal patient care.
RESPONSIBILITIES: &nbsp;

Reads charts, prescriptions and radiology requests to ascertain the existence of valid physician orders for diagnostic computerized tomography procedures.&nbsp;&nbsp;

<li>
Obtains pertinent clinical information and follows special physician requests noted on prescriptions.&nbsp;&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Prepares contract media according to physician's order or departmental policy.&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Assures proper patient identify prior to performing procedure.&nbsp;&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Initiates life support measures for patients as necessary.&nbsp;&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Lifts and moves patients with assistance, immobilizes patients as necessary.&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Under the direction of a radiologist, performs diagnostic computerized tomography procedures at a technical level.&nbsp;&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Identifies disease abnormalities and physiological processes while performing C.T. scans with initiative to obtain additional scan, view or other technical factors as required to provide maximum information for the Radiologist.&nbsp;&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Selects technical factors and imaging modes on an individual patient basis.&nbsp;&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Practices aseptic technique.&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Per physician’s orders, administers or inject intravenous contrast media which is limited to the placement or insertion of a needle or catheter, not exceeding three inches in length and not above the level of the axilla into a person’s upper extremity&nbsp;

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: &nbsp;

Graduation from an AMA approved program in Radiological Technology&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Current New York State licensure or permit to practice as a Radiological Technologist.&nbsp;&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Requires ability to think and act quickly in order to deliver efficient, quality patient care.&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Requires good reading and deductive skills in order to interpret physician requests and effectively solve problems.&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Requires sufficient sensitivity and interpersonal skills to deal with apprehensive patients in a professional and compassionate manner.&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
Requires positive and effective communication skills for interaction with physicians and staff in emotionally charged situations.&nbsp;&nbsp;
</li>
</ul>

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

PAY RANGE:
$31.80 - $42.99
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
