WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Swim Instructor is responsible for providing all Members and guests with a safe, welcoming and educational lesson environment. This will be accomplished through conducting swim lessons in accordance with all safety and Club standards, conducting skills evaluations, and assuring all safety and Club policies are taught and enforced at the pool area.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
The Swim Instructor must complete all tasks and assignments assigned by the Beach Club Manager and/or Aquatic Supervisors, including but not limited to:

<li>Conduct swim lessons in accordance with all safety and Club standards</li>
<li>Ensure a safe learning environment throughout lessons for all Members and guests</li>
<li>Conduct swimming and certification skills evaluations for campers</li>
<li>Provide swimming instruction for camp groups, Future Teams and private lessons</li>
<li>Communicate and enforce pool rules and policies</li>
<li>Maintain a high level of visibility, ensuring availability to respond to Member and guest inquiries</li>
<li>Current and valid Lifeguarding certifications</li>
<li>Current and valid First Aid and CPR certifications</li>
<li>Must be 17 years of age or older</li>
<li>Prior experience in a Swim Instructor role strongly preferred</li>
<li>Must maintain a friendly and encouraging attitude both during and outside of lessons</li>
<li>Must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with fellow team members, management team, Members and guests</li>
<li>Must be able to work a variable schedule, including weekends and holidays</li>
<li>Must present professional appearance and attitude at all times, maintaining a high level of member service</li>
<li>Must adhere to all WCC guidelines, policies and procedures</li>
<li>Working primarily in and around the Beach Club pool and all related designated Aquatics areas.</li>

POSITION/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
Swim Instructors are key members of the Aquatics team and will report to the Director of Aquatics. The primary responsibilities are to provide supervision of member swim and learn to swim lessons based on American Red Cross (ARC) standards.
She/He is expected to maintain supervision and care of each participant in the program. The lifeguard is responsible for communicating pool issues to the Director of Aquatics. Must represent Commonpoint Bronx Center in a positive light at all times.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Know and enforce the pool rules for guards and patrons
● Check the supply cabinet to make sure there are appropriate first aid and pool maintenance supplies
● Change lane lines according to the pool schedule
● Keep pool deck free of any debris or equipment
● Dispose of garbage on the pool deck
● Test the chlorine and PH levels hourly
● Read flyers and be aware of any new programs
● Perform appropriate CPR or life saving techniques in case of an emergency
● Lock pool and locker room doors at the end of the night
 
QUALIFICATIONS &amp; REQUIREMENTS:
Current lifeguard certification
● Ability to use discretion and anticipate dangerous aquatics situations
● Ability to work independently
● Ability to positively interact with the general public.

● Essential physical requirements include handling small children in the water, ability to swim 25 yards, lifting up to 50lbs, standing, stooping for periods of him such as climbing, standing, stooping for periods of time.
● Physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary - medium - up to 50 pounds; heavy - over 50 pounds.
● Indicate if required to work weekends and nights are requirements as a regular part of the job.
● No traveling is required for this position
 
JOB DETAILS
Hourly Salary: $16.50- $18.00 depending on experience and current certifications
Working Schedule: POOL IS OPEN FROM 6AM-10PM 7 DAYS PER WEEK. SHIFTS ARE 2-8 HOURS LONG.
