Job Duties and Responsibilities:

DSPs provide observations, evaluations, and reports to other team members to ensure and/or record an individual’s progress toward treatment/habilitation goals. In accordance with habilitative plans, they guide and teach individuals to develop skills required for a more independent lifestyle.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions unless this causes undue hardship to the agency.
DSPs provide observations, evaluations, and reports to other team members to ensure and/or record an individual’s progress toward treatment/habilitation goals. In accordance with habilitative plans, they guide and teach individuals to develop skills required for a more independent lifestyle. Incumbents may take a lead role in one or more of the following duties within a work site. Duties may be performed in several or all of the following areas:
Personal Care
<ul>
<li>Teaches and reinforces accepted infection control and personal grooming techniques; assists in bathing, dental care, hair and nail care, personal hygiene, toileting, incontinence care, menstrual care, and grooming routines as necessary.</li>
<li>Teaches and assists individuals in dressing, clothing selection, storage, laundering and repair of clothing and accessories; helps them to shop for clothing.</li>
<li>Teaches and assists in proper use and care of shavers and razors, eyeglasses, hearing aids, prostheses as prescribed by appropriate medical practitioner.</li>

Food Preparation, Mealtimes

Maintaining the Environment
Under the direction of the appropriate level supervisor, the DSP performs various tasks and duties to assure that the living environment is properly maintained and kept in a clean, neat and orderly condition.

<li>Performs/teaches developmentally disabled individuals routine housekeeping duties such as dusting, washing floors and walls, cleaning bathrooms, and vacuuming rugs.</li>
<li>Assists developmentally disabled individuals in bed making.</li>
<li>Follows safety procedures in living unit by mopping up spills, reporting unsafe conditions, teaches and reinforces fire safety procedures. Checks to see that fire exits are clear, night-lights and exit signs on, windows locked, etc.</li>
<li>Stores supplies and assures that storage areas are kept in a neat and orderly condition.</li>

We are seeking a creative, compassionate, hands-on Lifestyle Coordinator to assist in presenting and coordinating recreational programs for our assisted living residents, as well as residents with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia in our dedicated Reflections Memory Care Neighborhood. You will assist residents in making the adjustment to a new concept of living at our luxury assisted living community, not only encouraging them to continue pursuing their interests, hobbies and lifestyle activities, but also to develop new and stimulating interests, as well. You will help plan fun and safe trips to suitable destinations, such as art galleries, theaters, music venues, racetracks, sports events as well as religious and cultural programs. You will also help prepare, print and distribute copies of our monthly calendar, newsletters and memos to residents. You will also be expected to perform planned activities in the absence of the Director of Recreation. In this role you will maintain a knowledge of resident backgrounds, hobbies, special interests, and spoken languages, etc., and use this knowledge to encourage resident engagement and participation. The loving attention you bring to the assistance you provide is fundamental to the quality of life and the general wellbeing of our residents every day.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills/qualifications:
<ul>
<li>One year’s prior experience working with a senior population, and those with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia a plus</li>
<li>At least 6 months of Recreation activity experience (art therapy, music therapy) or event leadership experience, and preferably in assisted living, long-term care or a similar industry setting</li>
<li>Be outgoing, warm and have a genuine caring personality</li>
<li>Able to create programs that get residents involved and excited</li>
<li>Be dependable and able to supervise activities, special events and safe excursions for the residents</li>
<li>Has creative talents in one or more areas, such as art, music, readings, dance, etc.</li>
<li>Always maintaining oneself well-groomed and properly attired</li>
<li>Demonstrates good listening and communication skills and always presents a positive spirit and professional attitude</li>
<li>Possesses a proven ability to lead classes and other instructional learning sessions and speak in front of a group setting with ease, confidence and clarity</li>
<li>Holds a high school diploma or equivalent at a minimum</li>

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Resident Service Assistants/Home Health Aides with a skillset and a heart for helping residents make the most of each day. In this position, you’ll be a friendly and familiar face to our residents, providing hands-on care in a respectful and dignified manner. Your role is essential to the care and safety of residents who choose to call The Bristal home. Qualifications:

WORK SCHEDULE: Friday and Saturday 3:00pm to 11:30pm
ICL operates residential programs for adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD). Nine facilities, located in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan provide varying levels and types of support. ICL residences are in buildings with 4 to 14 occupants and have 24/7 on site services. These programs promote the growth and independence of the individuals who live in the residence. Staff help to assess their strengths and provide services based on the skill level, needs and preferences of each individual and help individuals lead richer lives.
You would be Responsible for:
<ul>
<li>Under supervision, provide supports and services which involve advocating for, encouraging, guiding and teaching individuals in expressing personal choice, ensuring community integration, assisting individuals with personal hygiene care, toileting, lifts and transfers, dining, dressing, and meal preparation.</li>
<li>You would help individuals to participate in games and recreational programs; coach and encourage individuals to develop daily living skills; and provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.</li>
<li>You would work with other staff to carry out and record care plans and, in accordance with special instructions, you may administer medication. These positions are physically demanding.</li>
<li>You would need to be prepared to act to ensure the health and safety of individuals in emergency situations.</li>
<li>In some of the residences, you must be able to stand, bend, stretch, and lift bedridden and/or incapacitated individuals.</li>
