With responsibilities across admissions and student services, the person in this Research Scholar appointment will serve as the Assistant Director, participating in the recruitment and selection of the highest caliber graduate students for our post-JD degrees, playing an active role in advising incoming and current students, and develop, implement and assess programs that enhance our LLM students’ experience. You also will propose and implement student communication initiatives—including web, email, guides, and presentations—that integrate steps along the journey from application to graduation.
In Graduate Admissions, the Assistant Director reviews and evaluates domestic and foreign education credentials, and participates as a member of the Admissions Committee. You also will represent the Law School and its programs to applicants at virtual and international recruitment events, engaging with alumni globally.
In the Office of Graduate Affairs, you will serve as a critical information resource to students on curricular and co-curricular opportunities; you will advise and counsel them on academic matters, workload strategies, and cultural adjustment. You will interpret, learn, and apply academic policies. You also will develop and help implement programming that fosters community building, and students’ academic success and professional development.
Travel in fall and spring semesters required.
Key points:

<li>Review domestic and international applicant credentials, contribute to admissions decisions, and participate in recruitment and enrollment-management activities.</li>
<li>Provide academic advising on LLM degree requirements, bar eligibility, course planning, and academic success strategies.</li>
<li>Guide students in navigating academic and administrative processes, recommend co-curricular opportunities, and develop programming that supports community and student development.</li>
<li>Use university systems to manage student records, process academic requests, and prepare bar-related documentation.</li>
<li>Support international and online recruitment efforts and create content for Graduate Admissions and Graduate Affairs websites and communications.</li>

Compensation and Benefits
In compliance with New York City’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary is $80,000 for the position. Required

<li>Education: Bachelor's degree</li>
<li>Experience: Three years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.</li>
<li>Knowledge: Strong cultural awareness and ability to relate to a wide array of audiences, including to the needs of students from a variety educational backgrounds. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking. Strong analytical abilities, including interpretation and application of policy to individual circumstances. Interest in cross-departmental operations, and proven ability to balance competing priorities. High proficiency in basic office software applications. Working knowledge of information systems and processes.</li>

Preferred
<ul>
<li>Education: Graduate or law degree</li>
<li>Experience: Experience working with international students in a graduate or professional school setting. Demonstrated ability to garner trust and confidence among diverse communities, and build relationships among students and alumni.</li>
<li>Knowledge:&nbsp; Knowledgeable about legal education and the legal profession. Experience with communication strategy and website design and maintenance. Domestic and foreign travel experience. Fluency in a language other than English. Knowledge of Peoplesoft.</li>

Assistant Director

The Department of Biological Sciences at Columbia University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Discipline for the Fall 2025 semester. Responsibilities will include leading multiple recitation sections and grading for the introductory biology course and upper level (3000 &amp; 4000 level) courses and teaching a one-semester upper-level undergraduate lecture course for Biology majors. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the evolution and leadership of the undergraduate program in biology.
Qualifications
Minimum Degree Required: Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or similar field
 Minimum Qualifications: Completion of all PhD requirements by time of appointment; post-doctoral research experience prefered.
Candidates should have a strong appreciation for evidence-based deductions, quantitative analyses and molecular mechanisms. Candidates should also have the ambition to promote curiosity, encourage independent thinking and challenge a talented pool of students to think logically and rigorously.&nbsp;
