Kitchen Assistant Position Summary:

LECOB is seeking a dedicated and team-oriented Part-Time Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team in Oyster Bay, NY. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Chef with various tasks related to kitchen operations, meal service, and maintaining a clean and organized environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, basic culinary skills, and the flexibility to adapt to the unique needs of our community center.

Position Type:

• Full Time - 35+ hours per week schedule discussed upon interview.
• Part-Time - Monday - Friday from 9 - 2 (flexible) and Full-Time option for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

• Assist Chef in all areas of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and meal service.
• Perform dishwashing and cleaning duties to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment.
• Support the Chef with inventory management and assist with monthly inventory as needed.
• Maintain a well-organized kitchen by storing ingredients, utensils, and equipment properly.
• Run the kitchen in the absence of the Chef, ensuring smooth operations and efficient meal service.
• Follow all health and safety regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a culinary or kitchen environment.
• Basic culinary skills and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, able to prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with staff and volunteers
