Director of Finance and Operations
Location: New York City (Hybrid/Remote options available)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a mission-driven financial leader to oversee the fiscal strategy and day-to-day financial operations of our nonprofit organization. This role is responsible for ensuring financial transparency, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence in support of our community-focused mission.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Compliance:
Lead the preparation and distribution of timely and accurate financial reports, including monthly and quarterly statements, balance sheets, and reports required by funders, regulatory agencies, and the board of directors. -
Accounting & Treasury Oversight:
Manage all core financial functions such as general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, cash flow, tax filings, and audit readiness. Ensure monthly closings are completed accurately and on schedule. -
Audit Coordination:
Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and the board’s finance committee. Oversee the annual audit process to ensure timely completion and clean audit outcomes. Implement improvements based on audit findings. -
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Collaborate with the executive team to lead the annual budgeting process. Monitor financial performance against budget, provide variance analysis, and update forecasts throughout the year to support strategic decision-making. -
Internal Controls & Recordkeeping:
Maintain robust financial systems and documentation, including bank reconciliations, vendor records, disbursement approvals, and ledger accuracy. Ensure all financial activities are well-documented and audit-ready. -
Board & Committee Engagement:
Provide monthly financial updates and strategic insights to the Audit Committee. Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis as requested to support governance and oversight. -
Investment Oversight:
Act as the primary contact for investment advisors. Monitor investment accounts and contribute to high-level financial planning and asset management decisions.
Pay Details: $175,000.00 to $200,000.00 per year
