Job Description
Job Description
Chief of Staff / Founding Operations
Location: New York City (Onsite)
Compensation: $140–$180k base salary + equity
About the Role
A fast-growing, well-funded early-stage consumer health startup in NYC is hiring a Chief of Staff / Founding Head of Ops to partner directly with the founding team. This role is designed for someone who wants to sit at the center of product, growth, strategy, and execution—working across every part of the company to accelerate momentum.
If you’ve been looking for a role where you act as the founders’ right hand, touch every function, solve ambiguous problems, and help build a breakout consumer product from the earliest days, this is that opportunity.
This is an onsite role in Midtown Manhattan (near Bryant Park), immersed with the founders every single day.
What You’ll Do
You’ll own a mix of analytical work, operational execution, research, creative testing, and hands-on company building.
Examples include:
Growth & Marketing Ops
- Analyze the performance of short-form content, marketing scripts, messaging angles, and creative trends.
- Identify what resonates with different user groups—what tone, phrasing, or pain points drive virality and conversion.
- Run experiments quickly: if someone has a new creative or growth idea, you’ll research, plan, and test it within 48–72 hours.
Product Analytics & User Insight
- Dive into product behavior data to surface patterns the team may not expect.
- Watch session replays (e.g., PostHog) to identify friction points or surprising behaviors.
- Schedule and conduct continuous user interviews to uncover unmet needs and emerging insights.
Market & Competitive Research
- Stay on top of new entrants, shifting trends, regulatory updates, and category developments.
- Keep the team informed about movements in the broader health and wellness landscape.
Hiring & People Ops
- Help identify, outreach to, and close exceptional talent across product, engineering, and operations.
- Act as a force multiplier in building a high-performing early team.
Internal Operations
- Implement automations using modern AI tools to streamline workflows and eliminate repetitive tasks.
- Take on high-ownership operational projects—finding new office spaces, coordinating team logistics, ordering supplies, scheduling group events, etc.
“Whatever it takes” Execution
You’ll frequently handle ad hoc work that ranges from strategic to tactical.
If the founders need support, you’re the first person they trust to get it done quickly and correctly.
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have Background
- 1–3 years in management consulting, investment banking, or early-stage startups.
- Graduated college within the last 4 years.
- Experience balancing analytical work with operational execution.
- Strong comfort with ambiguity and fast-changing priorities.
Traits That Stand Out
- You use AI tools aggressively to increase your output.
- You communicate clearly and proactively.
- You solve problems with both speed and depth.
- You are the kind of person people describe as “they just get it done.”
- You don’t believe any task is beneath you—and you rise to tasks that feel above your level.
Bonus Points
- You build small apps/tools for fun (or use no-code + “vibe coding” to automate things).
- You see yourself as a future founder and want to learn how a high-growth consumer company is built from zero.
- You have a technical background or strong technical intuition.
- Experience in consumer health, wellness, or behavior-change products.
Why This Role Is Special
You’ll be embedded alongside a founding team that moves fast, iterates constantly, and is building a product people rely on during one of the most meaningful transitions of their lives. Your fingerprints will be on the company’s growth, product direction, and culture from day one.
This is not a traditional Chief of Staff role—this is a high-agency, high-velocity operator role for someone who wants to learn every part of building a breakout consumer business and eventually grow into a leadership or founder-level talent.
