Job DescriptionWe are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Flushing, New York. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with corporate tax regulations, and supporting the organization's accounting operations. Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review corporate tax returns to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
• Manage sales tax reporting and reconciliation processes.
• Record journal entries accurately and in a timely manner to maintain financial integrity.
• Maintain and update the general ledger to reflect current financial activities.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Conduct regular audits of financial data to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
• Collaborate with other departments to address accounting issues and improve processes.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Stay informed about changes in tax laws and accounting practices that may impact the organization.• Proven experience in corporate tax preparation and compliance.
• Strong knowledge of sales tax regulations and reporting.
• Proficiency in managing corporate tax returns and related documentation.
• Expertise in recording journal entries and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Solid understanding of general ledger management.
• Familiarity with accounting principles and practices, especially in the non-profit sector.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
