About the Role:
We are seeking a digital activation leader who brings operational rigor, technical fluency, and executional excellence to life for our clients. The VP of Digital Activation is responsible for turning strategic media direction into live, optimized, and compliant campaigns across the digital ecosystem. This role sits at the core of how digital plans are implemented, managed, and evolved in-market—ensuring flawless delivery across paid search, programmatic, social, and endemic platforms.
This individual will oversee a team of activation specialists and subject matter experts, guiding the execution of complex omnichannel campaigns with precision, while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements unique to the pharma landscape. This is a hands-on, execution-focused leadership role with direct ownership of platform operations, campaign performance, and activation governance.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Activation Leadership

  • Bridge the gap between digital strategy and in-market activation across all digital channels.
  • Lead the activation of omnichannel campaigns across platforms.
  • Translate brand and business goals into actionable media plans and digital buys.
  • Ensure digital campaigns are launched on time, on spec, and in compliance with all platform and pharma-specific requirements.

Team & Platform Management

  • Lead a team of cross-channel activation specialists across programmatic, paid social, search, and endemic platforms.
  • Oversee relationships with media vendors, tech partners, and third-party platforms to support campaign delivery and innovation.
  • Ensure best-in-class trafficking, QA, campaign monitoring, and delivery workflows are followed.

Compliance & Regulatory Alignment

  • Ensure all digital media buys adhere to client and industry compliance requirements.
  • Partner closely with compliance teams to implement guardrails for pharma-specific issues like adverse event monitoring, black box visibility, etc.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in digital execution compliance within the pharmaceutical landscape.

Performance & Optimization

  • Partner with analytics and intelligence teams to monitor in-flight performance and drive real-time optimizations.
  • Provide direction to activation teams to refine delivery, pacing, audience targeting, and creative rotation based on in-market results.
  • Ensure KPI alignment with brand objectives and support the operational side of measurement strategy.


Innovation & Platform Expertise

  • Stay on the forefront of digital trends and emerging platforms that will drive evolution of campaign delivery.
  • Introduce new targeting, measurement, or creative formats within the regulatory constraints of pharma.


Client Collaboration & Growth

  • Serve as the primary digital activation SME presenting at status meetings, strategic work sessions, media planning presentations and as needed to provide updates to clients with clarity and confidence
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with client stakeholders, becoming a go-to advisor on all things related to digital activation.
  • Support new business efforts by providing expertise in pitch decks, capability presentations, and client meetings.

Team Leadership & Process Optimization

  • Hire, train, mentor and retain digital activation specialists
  • Build a cohesive and scalable team that manages cross-channel digital activation, across multiple brands and clients.
  • Create, evolve and implement SOPs for campaign activation.
  • Troubleshoot complex trafficking or delivery issues with vendors, publishers, or media teams.


Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in digital media, with a strong focus on campaign activation, execution, and cross-channel coordination.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams in a digital or integrated media environment—agency-side experience strongly preferred.
  • Deep expertise in digital platforms and ad tech ecosystems, including programmatic, paid social, search, ad servers, DSPs, DCOs, and verification tools.
  • Strong understanding of media KPIs, performance measurement, attribution modeling, and omnichannel optimization strategies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills; able to educate and influence internal teams, clients, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to scale operational processes, build systems, and drive efficiency across media teams.
