Beverage Manager

Position Overview
A dynamic entertainment and hospitality venue is seeking a Beverage Manager to lead bar operations at a high-energy, competitive socializing concept in Lower Manhattan. This role is central to delivering exceptional guest experiences through high-quality beverage execution, efficient team leadership, and consistent operational excellence across a multi-functional venue offering both indoor and outdoor service.
The Beverage Manager will serve as both a hands-on leader during service and the strategic mind behind bar systems, staff development, inventory, and compliance. This individual should be a hospitality-driven professional with a strong background in high-volume beverage programs, event execution, and floor leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Bar Operations & Service Execution
- Lead and train a bar team to deliver fast, accurate, and consistent service aligned with brand standards
- Ensure flawless execution of all beverages to spec, from build to garnish
- Enforce cleanliness and organization at bar stations, prep areas, and guest-facing spaces
- Conduct quality control for ingredients, batches, and mise en place
- Oversee bar opening/closing duties, shift checklists, and daily readiness
- Monitor guest pacing, bar flow, and service timeliness during all operating hours
- Foster a culture of proactive service, encouraging staff to anticipate guest needs
Team Leadership & Training
- Hire, onboard, and schedule bartenders and barbacks
- Lead daily pre-shift lineups and offer real-time coaching during service
- Manage shift-end reporting and staff checkouts
- Maintain training documentation, SOPs, and product guides
- Promote a high-performance, professional, and guest-centric team environment
Inventory, Ordering & Compliance
- Handle weekly ordering, vendor communication, and equipment needs
- Maintain inventory systems, waste tracking, and usage reporting
- Receive and rotate product stock accurately and efficiently
- Ensure compliance with DOH standards, local alcohol laws, and safety protocols
- Lead deep cleans and maintain ongoing sanitation protocols
Collaboration & Administration
- Coordinate with Events, Marketing, and Operations teams on activations and service planning
- Maintain accurate recipes and pricing within POS and inventory systems
- Contribute to scheduling, floor planning, and performance tracking
- Participate in weekly leadership and BEO meetings
- Respond to guest feedback and complaints with professionalism and care
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of bar leadership or beverage management experience required
- Experience in fast-paced environments, especially with events ranging from 10 to 1,000 guests
- Proficient in POS systems (e.g., Toast), inventory software, and Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with reservation platforms such as SevenRooms is a plus
- Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, batching, and service flow
- Excellent time management and ability to thrive under pressure
- Proven leadership, communication, and team-building skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Degree in hospitality or a related field preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods and move frequently within the venue
- Must be able to bend, lift, reach overhead, and carry up to 25 pounds
- Regular attendance and punctuality required
- Must meet ADA, FMLA, and applicable federal, state, and local standards for physical performance
