About the Company:
Our client is premier construction firm specializing in exterior restoration and roofing projects throughout the NYC area. The current Controller, who has been with the firm for over 20 years, is planning to retire at the end of the year. We are seeking a seasoned financial leader to take the reins and drive the company’s accounting and finance operations into its next chapter of growth.
This is a pivotal role that will serve as a strategic partner to ownership and oversee all financial, accounting, and reporting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all construction accounting operations, including job costing, revenue recognition, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with AIA billing, lien waivers, subcontractor tracking, and contract compliance.
- Produce timely monthly financials, WIP schedules, and project-level reporting.
- Manage project cash flow, forecasting, and budget tracking in coordination with PMs and leadership.
- Lead and support a team handling AP, AR, billing, and contract administration.
- Serve as a key liaison with external CPAs, banks, and bonding agencies.
- Drive continuous improvement in systems, controls, and reporting processes.
- Utilize QuickBooks and Excel to support the accounting function; experience implementing or enhancing systems a plus.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of construction accounting experience, preferably in roofing, restoration, or general contracting.
- Strong familiarity with AIA billing and job cost accounting practices.
- Previous supervisory experience managing small teams.
- High attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and strong Excel skills required.
- Proven ability to thrive in a hands-on environment and collaborate across departments.
