Rio Tomatlan is a family-owned restaurant located just west of downtown Canandaigua featuring authentic Mexican cuisine. In business for 20 years, Rio has maintained a loyal following from its humble beginnings on Beemin. The goal for Rio is to expand its current Catering and Private Events department to not only educate the community to the variety of Mexican cuisine but also to continue to bring this community closer together.
Rio is looking for a creative and friendly Catering Manager to be responsible for catering operations which includes both preparation and working of onsite and off-site events. This person will be responsible for catering a variety of events including weddings, corporate functions, and social gatherings. The position is full-time with hours based on catering schedule. Pay is salaried with commission and gratuity. Must be able to work nights and weekends.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Communicate with customers to book and plan catering events
· Email communication with customers and vendors
· Ensure respective staff are aware of events
· Schedule staff for events as necessary
· Network and market in the community
· Develop, maintain and verify standard operation procedures and pricing
Skills and Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Strong customer service skills, leadership and supervisory skills
· Knowledge of dietary restrictions and the ability to come up with menus accordingly
· Understanding of safe food handling policies and procedures
· Excellent communication skills for conversing with clients, guests and employees
· Business acumen and negotiation skills
· Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
· Time management and organizational skills
