About the role
The Vice President, Corporate Development & Strategic Finance is a pivotal leadership role responsible for in-depth analysis of inorganic targets, strategic insights related to Oscar's overall business, and sophisticated financial analysis. This role is responsible for orchestrating and executing all analytical and financial modeling for inorganic growth opportunities, while directly assisting in negotiations of acquisitions. The VP has significant, direct interaction and influence with the Management and Operating Committees of the company, ensuring the business is strategically positioned for future growth through M&A and also tracking against its financial targets.
You will report to the SVP, Deputy CFO.

Pay Transparency:
The base pay for this role is: $255,200 - $334,950 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants and annual performance bonuses.
Responsibilities
- Corporate Development & Deal Execution:
- Provide Finance oversight for all end-to-end deal execution (mergers & acquisitions, strategic partnerships, etc.) steps including financial modeling, valuation, and analytical due diligence for potential mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
- Directly assist in the negotiation of acquisition terms, leveraging deep financial insights and strategic understanding.
- Drive the corporate development pipeline, from initial target identification and evaluation to integration planning.
- Manage relationships with all external parties including consultants, investment banks, and financial advisors.
- Operating Plan Development & Strategic Alignment:
- Lead the development and ongoing management of the multi-year enterprise-wide Operating Plan, ensuring alignment with the overarching enterprise Strategic Plan.
- Monitor and report on progress against key Operating Plan metrics, owning the Operating Committee agendas and driving critical follow-ups to completion with executive stakeholders.
- Advanced Financial and Capital Modeling:
- Lead sophisticated, long-term, enterprise-wide financial and capital modeling efforts to inform and influence strategic decisions related to future growth initiatives, capital allocation, and inorganic opportunities.
- Strategic Initiative Evaluation & Due Diligence:
- Provide comprehensive quantitative and qualitative evaluations of strategic growth initiatives, including new market entries and business lines, in close partnership with the Corporate Strategy team.
- Conduct deep dives and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making and validate potential inorganic opportunities.
- Executive Leadership & Influence:
- Develop, mentor, and lead a high-performing Strategic Finance & Corporate Development team, fostering a culture of analytical rigor and strategic thinking.
- Collaborate and influence effectively with executive business line owners, members of the Management Committee and Operating Committee, Board of Directors, and Finance Leadership to drive strategic outcomes.
- Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in analytical financial roles, with significant leadership responsibilities.
- 12+ years of demonstrated ability using expert financial modeling skills to effectively translate complex data into actionable insights, robust strategies, and comprehensive financial plans, particularly in a corporate development context.
- 8+ years of significant corporate development experience, including direct involvement in M&A financial modeling, valuation, and negotiation.
- 7+ years of experience collaborating, influencing, and presenting at the executive level, including direct interaction with C-suite and Board members.
Bonus Points
- Experience in similar roles in strategy consulting, financial services, or insurance industries (ex: private equity, venture capital, investment banking)
- Strong preference for healthcare industry experience and deep market knowledge.
- Advanced degrees or professional designations, such as an MBA or CFA.

Pay Transparency: Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience.
