Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist with Certified Payroll experience to join our team. This role is responsible for processing payroll, ensuring compliance with federal and state labor regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll for employees, including salaried, hourly, and laborers.
- Prepare and submit Certified Payroll Reports (WH-347 or equivalent) in accordance with the Davis-Bacon Act, state prevailing wage laws, and project-specific requirements.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, including timesheets, wage rates, benefits, and deductions.
- Verify timekeeping records and reconciling discrepancies in payroll data.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and labor laws.
- Collaborate with HR and project managers to gather information related to labor classifications and job codes.
- Respond to internal and external audits by providing requested payroll documentation and reports.
- Keep up to date with changes in wage determinations, certified payroll regulations, and labor compliance requirements.
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of prevailing wage classifications in payroll systems.
- Generate reports for management and project compliance purposes.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of payroll experience, with at least 1 year of certified payroll processing.
- Strong knowledge of Davis-Bacon Act, state prevailing wage laws, and certified payroll reporting requirements.
- Proficiency with payroll software
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Daforce/Ceridian experience
- Experience in construction, government contracting, or public works sector.
- Knowledge of prevailing rate payroll processing and fringe benefit reporting.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification a plus.
