Job Description

About Us

We are a fast-growing cannabis retail management firm overseeing multiple licensed dispensaries in New York. Our mission is to provide exceptional and compliant retail experiences in a complex and rapidly evolving industry. We are currently seeking a Senior IT Technician to take ownership of our IT systems across all locations and build out sustainable tech infrastructure for the future.

About the Role

As the most senior IT professional on our team, you’ll be responsible for overseeing, maintaining, and improving all IT systems across multiple cannabis dispensary locations. You’ll be expected to troubleshoot and resolve issues across a wide range of hardware and software, lead setup and scaling efforts during new store launches, develop internal processes and documentation, and ensure seamless operation of tech systems critical to sales, compliance, and customer service.

This role is on the ground and hands-on, requiring site visits across NYC, Westchester, and Long Island. You must be proactive, solutions-oriented, and capable of independently managing priorities in a dynamic retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware/software issues across devices: POS systems, tablets, desktops/laptops, printers (Epson, Star), ID scanners (Verascan), and payment terminals.
  • Provide Tier 1–2 support for staff, escalating issues only when necessary.
  • Respond to and manage urgent tech outages (e.g., internet disruptions, register failures) with calm and resourceful solutions.

Systems Setup & Infrastructure

  • Lead IT setup for new store openings, including cable configuration, device installations, and system integrations.
  • Configure and maintain Windows-based systems, Microsoft Surface devices, printers, scanners, card readers, routers/modems, and Wi-Fi networks.
  • Maintain backup systems and emergency recovery protocols to ensure operational continuity.

Documentation & Process Development

  • Create and maintain thorough IT documentation, SOPs, and equipment inventories across locations.
  • Standardize workflows for common troubleshooting procedures and onboarding new IT team members.
  • Maintain logs of support tickets, incidents, and resolutions using a ticketing system.

Collaboration & Customer Service

  • Build trust and rapport with store managers and staff to proactively anticipate tech needs.
  • Represent the IT department with professionalism in both staff and customer-facing situations.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align tech infrastructure with operational growth.

Cross-Functional & Field Support

  • Regularly travel to retail stores throughout NYC, Yonkers, and the Hamptons to support tech systems on-site.
  • Support cross-departmental projects such as inventory hardware rollouts or compliance tech integrations.
  • Assist with other business-critical tasks as needed when IT demands are low.

Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Job responsibilities may be added, removed, or modified at any time based on the evolving needs of the company and the direction of management.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or retail tech operations, preferably in multi-location environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • Windows OS and Microsoft Surface devices
  • Printers (Epson, Star), scanners (Verascan), and POS systems (e.g., Treez, Dutchie, etc)
  • Networking fundamentals: Wi-Fi setup, IP troubleshooting, cable management
  • Remote support tools and ticketing systems
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and customer service mindset
  • Must be a self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, minimally structured environments
  • Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required for travel as needed
