Quality Assurance Specialist
Mandia International – Utica, NY
Mandia International, a fast-growing importer and manufacturer of specialty food oils, is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to support and grow our QA program. This hands-on role oversees food safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and lab capabilities. The position reports to the COO and offers strong long-term advancement opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Lead QA initiatives and supervise the QA Support Team
- Maintain certifications: SQF, Organic, Kosher, Non-GMO, FDA, NYS Dept. of Agriculture, SEDEX
- Manage supplier approval and ongoing compliance
- Oversee quality and food safety across Production, Warehouse, and Maintenance
- Ensure compliant labeling (FDA, industry standards, nutrition, claims)
- Support customer audits, product specs, and documentation
- Conduct oil sensory evaluations and support blending decisions
- Deliver required training and expand lab testing capabilities
Requirements
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree and/or 4+ years QA experience in food manufacturing
- SQF Practitioner, PCQI, HACCP, or FSVP (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience supervising QA/QC teams
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Clear communication and experience in manufacturing or lab environments
