JOB SUMMARY

Primary objective includes the solicitation, evaluation, negotiation and securing of Luxury Leisure opportunities, including the oversight of Consortia, Extended Stay and Suite sales. Develops and implements sales activities in accordance with marketing plan.

The position is accountable for proactively soliciting and handling sales opportunities. Ensures business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for proper service delivery. Conducts day-to-day activities related to sales with a focus on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of sales objectives and established goals. The position requires a self-motivating individual who can convey an image of confidence in themselves, value in our company, and leadership to others. This position requires an individual who can align themselves and their day-to-day functions with our brand. This role reports to the Sr. Director of Sales & Marketing.


CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Proactively builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers, including key luxury travel/entertainment agencies and partners, to enable future bookings. Activities include sales calls, entertainment, industry events, FAM trips, trade shows, etc.
  • Develops and implements sales activities within leisure segment to achieve budgeted goals.
  • Assures individual booking goals are achieved on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Solicits, evaluates, sells, and confirms business as required to meet assigned market segment’s budgeted sales and profit margin.
  • Negotiates with clients to secure leisure and entertainment business opportunities including extended stay and suite bookings. Works closely with reservations to ensure clients’ needs are met for successful room night production and guest satisfaction.
  • Follows up on assigned sales leads in a timely manner.
  • Reviews assigned accounts on a monthly and quarterly basis to ensure proper production of room nights are achieved to maintain preferred rates.
  • Develops and executes projects for assigned market segment to increase sales volume and profitability.
  • Handle account details so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented. Coordinate various departments’ participation in servicing accounts.
  • Contacts customers in-house to promote good will and foster additional business, repeat bookings, or referrals to other EQUINOX HOTELS properties when applicable.
  • Schedule and host entertainment/travel agent/meeting planner presentations to build existing and potential customers.
  • Actively participates in monthly meetings and networking events for the local Diplomatic forums, Business Travel Association, MPI, SITE, etc.
  • Conducts and or attends meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among company employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Prepares reports, as requested, to develop a more informative database for improved management decision making and critical evaluation of work activities.
  • Develops relationships within community to strengthen and expand customer base for sales opportunities
  • Manages and develops relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in business review meetings, special events, sales blitzes, sales meetings and other ad hoc meetings as required.
  • Accurately completes and submits expense report to the DOSM on a timely basis for approval and processing.
  • Assist the coordinators with the maintenance of sales files.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of hotel structure and how all departments work.
  • Strategically driven, analytical, and goal-oriented
  • Strong negotiation and presentation capabilities
  • Excel, PowerPoint, Delphi, Opera, Hotelligence
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers in a friendly and positive manner, in order to solicit business, meet clients’ needs and resolve complaints.
  • Ability to move throughout the hotel to conduct site inspections.
  • Ability to listen, speak and write English to ascertain and respond to client needs.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s in Hospitality, Business, or related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 5–8+ years in luxury/transient leisure sales in a major market (e.g., New York City), including 2–3 years in leadership roles; proven success with luxury consortia and elite leisure accounts.
