RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primarily responsible for developing and building internship and job placement partnerships with potential employers for the graduates for the graduates of our healthcare sector skills training program.
  • Able to understand and forecast the local labor market trends and issues, critical to the needs of the program to make the best workforce-related decisions
  • Work in coordination with allied healthcare training provider to ensure the training continues to be viable for the participants and potential employers.
  • Provide support to program team efforts in recruitment, orientation, job readiness, education, and skills training.
  • Monitor progress of participants through allied healthcare skills training, placement and retention.
  • Develop high quality internship and placement opportunities in the relevant sector for all participants that lead to career pathway growth and appeal to young adults in the allied health pathway of the Clinical Medical Assistant program that includes EKG and phlebotomy certification.
  • Progressively work with program team and training partner to identify and address problems/barriers to successful outcomes for participants.
  • Conduct one-on one interviews, assessing participants education and work history, need for support services, career preferences and barriers to employment
  • Develop individualized Career Plans and monitor/inspire clients to reach goals and milestones (education and employment goals).
  • Provide career coaching to participants enrolled in all phases of the program: training, job search, and post placement. Coaching should focus on strategies to help participants improve their income and advance in their careers.
  • Responsible for meeting funder goals of internship and job placements annually in sector focused career pathway opportunities for all enrollees.
  • In coordination with the retention/outreach specialist, provide post-graduation month career retention and job placement support for up to 12 months.
  • Visit external volunteer/internship sites and other training sites at minimum twice a month
  • Work closely with work sites to ensure student progress
  • Responsible for monitoring, managing including document and follow-up (i.e. attendance)
  • Secure documentation verifying employment, I.e. pay stubs as required
  • Assist in leading work readiness workshops to ensure the needs of the participants are being met.
  • Maintain good organizational and time management skills in order to ensure completion of all tasks
  • Assure quality, timely data entry into both funder-mandated databases and the company’s Salesforce database.
  • Attend team meetings, case conferences and supervisory sessions, including all funder meetings
  • Conduct home visits and other fieldwork, as required
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years progressively successful, relevant experience serving out of school out of work youth, including job development, employer engagement, and healthcare industry recruitment.
  • Strong progressive background and skills to effectively market graduates to employers and can build and nurture employer partner relationships.
  • Experience working on multiple projects and balancing competing priorities.
  • Strong skill set in data management and data tracking; demonstrated experience managing data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.

POSITION CRITERIA:

  • Proven track record of job development in the healthcare sector.
  • Specific experience in healthcare recruitment, nurturing robust talent pipelines, and knowledge of the latest strategies to recruit candidates from underrepresented groups and build a diverse workforce.
  • Excellent ability to motivate others towards achieving goals
  • Proven track record to attract, source and hire quality allied health talent across clinical and non-clinical roles
  • Able to work with a scalable hiring process without eroding program culture or candidate quality.
  • Prior experience working with DYCD funded programs is a plus
  • Demonstrated success with outcomes and performance management
  • Support a culture of professionalism designed to teach and cultivate a real-world working experience for the youth and young adults served.
  • Understand basic business practices and carry out assignments and projects without detailed instruction
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with clients of diverse cultural and language backgrounds
  • Must be comfortable in intercultural environments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
