Established for 30 years, the Company moved in 2020 to a new state-of-the-art facility in Bay Shore, NY (Suffolk County Long Island) and is experiencing rapid growth. Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and approachable HR Generalist to join our team. This role is pivotal in supporting our hourly workforce and supervisors while ensuring smooth HR operations across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and daily engagement. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about creating a connected, compliant, and people-first workplace. Work involves considerable contact in explaining a wide variety of human resource-related policies and procedures.The Human Resources Administrator and/or Coordinator is the primary back-up for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for hourly positions, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and offers.
- Partner with department heads to identify staffing needs and ensure timely hires.
- Coordinate with staffing agencies to ensure alignment with workforce needs.
- Track and report on temp employee performance, assignments, and conversion opportunities.
- Facilitate seamless onboarding for new hires including orientation, documentation, and system setup.
- Conduct exits processes and gathers feedback to improve employee retention and experience.
- Lead regular orientation sessions to welcome new employees and communicate company values, policies, and expectations.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, providing guidance and resolution aligned with company policies and values.
- Assist with investigations and documentation of employee issues or complaints.
- Maintain strong visibility on the production or operational floor to build rapport with employees and stay attuned to workplace dynamics.
- Promote positive employee engagement through active listening and responsive support.
- Act as the go-to HR resource for supervisors, offering support with staffing, performance management, and policy interpretation.
- Provide coaching and guidance to front-line leadership on HR-related topics.
- Other duties may be assigned/required.
Requirements / Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years HR Generalist experience in a manufacturing environment; Food manufacturing preferred but not required
- 2+ years’ experience with HRIS, ADP Workforce preferred but not required
- Experience working with hourly employees and temp staffing agencies
- Solid knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and workplace compliance
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal customers
- Good administrative, organizational, planning and follow up skills
- Strong oral, written and presentation communication skills
- Bi-lingual Spanish/English a must
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Excellent judgement and decision-making abilities
- Professional demeanor with a high level of integrity
- Ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality
- Proactive attitude with ability to work under pressure
- Accurate numeracy and analytical abilities
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Excel
- Flexibility to work on different schedules as needed (24 hrs. facility)
Physical Requirements:
The employee will occasionally move within the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, and collaborate with colleagues. Consistent use of office equipment, such equipment may include but not limited to computers, phones, printers, and copiers. The employee will be required to frequently communicate with both internal staff members as well as external parties or customers and must be able to convey accurate information.
