Job DescriptionLHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Staff Accountant to report to the VP of Finance for a Not for Profit Organization in Queens, NYPosition Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join the finance team. This role is essential to maintaining accurate financial records, supporting grant compliance, and ensuring timely reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles and a passion for supporting community-focused initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:

Maintain general ledger and ensure accurate journal entries and account reconciliations

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings

Prepare financial reports for internal use and external stakeholders, including funders and auditors

Support grant tracking and reporting, ensuring compliance with funding requirements

Process accounts payable and receivable transactions

Assist with annual audits and 990 preparation

Collaborate with program staff to monitor budgets and spending

Maintain documentation and records in accordance with organizational policies and GAAP
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
