Responsibilities
- Manage the preparation of multi-state payroll returns including New York, New Jersey, CA, Texas, CT, VA and Colorado, etc.
- Set up new payroll for clients, including the timely completion of EIN application, NYS-100 (or other state’s equivalent), EFTPS, and other tax payment systems
- Prepare payroll tax returns on a quarterly basis
- Effectively answer payroll tax questions from clients, including international payroll
- Understanding of workers compensation and disability coverage for various states in terms of registering payroll and timely completion of the annual audits
- Knowledge of setting up other benefits including 401k for businesses
- Manage payroll tax controls including monthly, quarterly and year end reporting
- Secure worker’s compensation and disabilities policies as required
- Oversee the day -to-day payroll responsibilities and tasks with minimal direction; ability to work autonomously in a fast paced, growth environment
- 1099 preparation and corrections at the end of the year.
Qualifications:
- 5 – 7 years of experience managing multi-state payroll
- Experience working for a small to medium sized CPA firm and/or business management company preferred
- Proficient at MS Office (especially Excel)
- Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state and local levels
- Prior experience with Payroll Relief and yearli for 1099 and 1042’s.
- Experience with ADP Run and Superform a plus
