California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, or Washington residents is $185,000 to $200,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).

About the Role
We are seeking an innovative and execution-focused Director of Generative AI Software Engineering to lead the strategy, architecture, and execution of AI-driven solutions within our legal tech platform. In this highly visible leadership role, you will define and drive the roadmap for generative AI and autonomous systems, manage multiple SCRUM teams, and help scale impactful products at the intersection of AI, legal, and SaaS.
Key Responsibilities
Define and execute the generative AI roadmap in alignment with business and engineering goals
Lead ideation, prototyping, and scaling of AI-driven solutions including LLMs, Copilots, and autonomous agents
Act as a creative, strategic leader to inspire engineering teams to push boundaries of innovation
Own technology architecture and development for complex, scalable SaaS products
Oversee daily activities and performance of multiple SCRUM teams
Monitor key engineering and operational metrics to drive consistent delivery excellence
Guide estimation of engineering efforts, planning for new features, and remediation of legacy code
Collaborate with Product Managers and Architects to deliver secure, performant, cloud-native applications
Promote transparency and accountability through data-driven processes across teams
Identify market gaps and align technology delivery to client needs and feedback
Lead cross-functional global collaboration with Product, Sales, and Customer Success teams
Shape our overall software development strategy, tooling, roadmaps, and best practices
Drive execution through structured 90, 120, and 180-day planning in partnership with executive leadership
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master’s in Computer Science or related field
15+ years in software engineering with 5+ years in technical leadership and people management
Deep expertise across full-stack development including C#, Azure, React, backend APIs, and front-end frameworks
SaaS product experience required, preferably in high-scale, customer-facing platforms
Proven track record leading AI initiatives (LLMs, agents, MCP Servers, prompt engineering)
Familiar with GitHub Copilot and either Cursor or Devon
Strong grasp of modern cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and CI/CD best practices (Docker, Kubernetes, APIs)
Ability to communicate and influence at all levels including C-suite
Comfortable managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams working on concurrent projects
Strategic thinker with a clear approach to goal setting and long-term planning
Highly collaborative, pragmatic, and passionate about execution in dynamic environments
Customer-first mindset with excellent relationship management and problem-solving skills

Compensation and Location
Base Salary: $200,000 + 20% annual bonus
Potential for higher compensation for exceptional candidates
Must be NYC-based or willing to relocate; hybrid schedule expected
