Job Title: Sous Chef

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sous Chef with expertise in French cuisine to join a high-end fine dining restaurant in New York City. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in French culinary techniques, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional quality in both food and presentation. This role reports directly to the Executive Chef and plays a key role in maintaining the standards and operations of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and excellence.
- Prepare, execute, and plate French cuisine dishes to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
- Train, mentor, and supervise line cooks and kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.
- Ensure adherence to recipes, portion control, and presentation standards.
- Manage inventory, ordering, and cost control while minimizing waste.
- Uphold strict sanitation, health, and safety standards in the kitchen.
- Assist in menu development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and innovative French culinary techniques.
- Support the Executive Chef in scheduling, kitchen organization, and overall operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a French cuisine-focused restaurant.
- Strong knowledge of classical and modern French cooking techniques.
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage, train, and inspire a kitchen team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Passion for culinary excellence and commitment to maintaining high standards.
