- Analyzes an authorization for medical information/PHI to evaluate for HIPAA compliance prior to processing.
- Receives and processes requests for patient health information in accordance with company, state, and federal guidelines.
- Uses extensive knowledge of hospital policy and procedures, and Federal and State laws and regulations to advise and direct other departments such as Risk Management, Ambulatory offices, Compliance, Billing etc. on the process of requests for PHI.
- Uses clear language to help internal and external customers understand the specific laws and/or regulations or policies and procedures that pertain to the release of PHI.
- Analyzes and validates all Subpoenas and hospital attorney requests received for HIPAA compliance.
- Researches and validates to ensure all records requested are present and ensure records are prepared for certification
- Works with ROI vendor in tracking and processing releases assigned to the vendor and with other RRH stakeholders.
- Participates in cross coverage support of other function-based areas as needed and at the discretion of the manager.
Workflows:
- Detail Oriented -- able to analyze patient information, and extract critical data requests while following HIPPA guidelines
- Multi-Tasking -- will have multiple requests at a time, managing incoming calls, walk-up/in person requests, and working from a queue
- Computer Skills -- need to be able to navigate systems and utilize Microsoft Office productivity suite (outlook, O365, word, excel etc.)
- Customer Support -- will be interacting with customers on a day-day and need to be able to handle requests and create positive experiences

Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school Diploma, required. Associates Degree in Health Information Management or any other health related field, preferred.
3 years of experience in Health Information Management or other Healthcare setting.
Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred but not required.
Experience in customer service.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
