Temporary Tax Billing Clerk – Seasonal Contract (August to Mid-October)

We are hiring multiple Tax Billing Clerks for a seasonal contract project supporting the processing of school tax payments. This project runs from early August through mid-October, with set hours from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
This role is ideal for someone who is extremely detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable performing repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy. The work can be very repetitive and routine, but it’s critical to the success of the project, and we need individuals who can stay focused and consistent throughout the contract period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carefully review checks to ensure all required fields are completed and accurate.
- Sort and organize payment stubs and corresponding checks.
- Perform lookups to confirm correct tax payment information.
- Accurately enter payment data into an internal tax system.
- Manually process and post payments.
- Reconcile daily batches and prepare bank deposits.
- Print and distribute receipts as needed.
- Use a calculator/adding machine with tape to verify totals.
- Follow step-by-step written instructions and adhere to training guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in billing, payment processing, or similar data entry work.
- High attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy in repetitive tasks.
- Comfortable working in a structured, process-driven role.
- Experience using an adding machine and performing manual calculations.
- Able to process approximately 300 payments per day while maintaining precision.
- Must have reliable transportation to the site (no access to public transit to this location).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow verbal and written directions.
- Must be available to work the entire contract period with no remote option.
