Amalgamated Bank is seeking for a Senior C&I Portfolio Manager & Loan Administrator who will be responsible for managing the process of tracking, underwriting, approving, funding, and managing commercial and industrial loan relationships. In addition, the role will be responsible for overseeing the portfolio management team and coordinating the workflow within the department.
The Senior Portfolio Manager may take on complex portfolio management duties and delegate other PM responsibilities to the team; these responsibilities include underwriting loan renewals, coordinating receipt of financial information, covenant tracking and compliance monitoring, review of borrowing base certificates, performing annual credit reviews, and ongoing analysis and input of ABL, A/R, and inventory formulas. The role works directly with borrowing customers, the underwriting team, and Credit Risk Management to negotiate with customers and generate credit authorizations, compliance memos, and risk rating changes. This position is also responsible for ensuring appropriate input into loan origination and tracking systems and providing management reports including pipeline, loan status, and loan completion rates. The position requires an experienced banker with strong credit ability, excellent communication skills, management capability, and adroit customer relationship management.

Essential Job Functions:
- Loan Administration
- Oversee accurate data entry into the bank’s Loan Origination System (Global Wave)
- Monitor and measure various stages of loan production, including pipeline reports, term sheets, underwriting, approval, documentation, and funding.
- Manage the timely completion of financial statement reporting, covenant monitoring, and annual credit reviews.
- Provide management reports to include:
- loan completion rates
- past due loan payments
- missing/delinquent financial statements
- covenant violations
- completed and outstanding Annual credit reviews
- Portfolio Management
- Provide ongoing oversight of the portfolio management function to include:
- Management of departmental workflow
- Assignment of duties within the team
- Setting appropriate customer service standards
- Evaluation and annual review of direct reports
- Recommendations for departmental training and resources
- Ensure efficient portfolio management of the C&I portfolio, including:
- Post-closing management of commercial loan relationships
- Request information when due, analyzing financial statements
- Prepare and present credit authorizations for approval following bank policy guidelines
- Provide ongoing oversight of the portfolio management function to include:
- Leadership
- Motivate team members.
- Provide input to supervisor on policies and procedures.
- Recommend ways to improve the organization.
- Management (Dependent on Regional Office Needs)
- Responsible for managing a team of portfolio managers.
- Oversee regional portfolio management process and department work assignments.
- Provide monitoring/training to ensure complete and thorough analysis of new credit requests and renewals in a timely basis.
- Set goals, perform annual performance reviews and oversee direct reports as assigned.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
- 6+ years of relevant experience in commercial credit analysis /underwriting
- Formal credit training preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of loan structures and treasury products
- Ability to analyze financial statements and understand critical lending/financial ratios
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Sufficient knowledge of Federal and State banking regulations (including but not limited to BSA, OFAC, Reg B, Reg O, Reg Z, and Reg BB) and Bank Policies pertinent to performance of duties to avoid regulatory violations
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this role is $150,000.00 - $160,000.00. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferrable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Hybrid Work Model
Effective February 18, 2025, employees in office-based positions will be working a Hybrid work schedule consisting of three days or more, on-site per week, Monday - Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence.
