Premium NYC Food Retailer - Bronx Distribution Center

Established specialty food company seeks Executive Pastry Sous Chef to lead pastry production operations for our commissary supplying multiple retail locations.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and manage daily pastry production, ensuring quality and consistency
  • Prepare, cook, and package pastries and baked goods for store delivery
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to improve production methodologies
  • Oversee all commissary pastry production areas for compliance with sanitation and food safety standards
  • Supervise pastry staff and ensure adherence to SOPs and production deadlines
  • Recruit, coach, and train team members
  • Work with the Culinary Director on new recipes and seasonal offerings
  • Manage weekly pastry labor schedules, meeting budget goals
  • Oversee monthly inventory counts and monitor ingredient usage

What You Need:

  • Culinary or pastry education
  • 5+ years of pastry experience in high-volume retail or restaurant
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Schedule flexibility (weekends, evenings, holidays)
  • Experience managing teams and implementing production improvements
  • Ability to meet budgets for labor, food, and operating costs
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • ServSafe certification
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $125,000 - $150,000 base salary + discretionary bonus
