Position Title: People & Culture Coordinator

Location: 25 Elm Place, Brooklyn, NY

Benefit Classification: Part-Time Non-Benefitted

Position Type: FLSA – Non-Exempt

This People & Culture Coordinator is responsible as a member of the People & Culture Team for supporting HR systems, processes, employee life-cycle events, training and projects as needed. The successful candidate will be highly organized, demonstrate initiative, have strong attention to detail, and a desire to learn and grow through hands-on experience in innovative projects. The Awesome Things You’ll Do

Employee Life Cycle:

  • Assists with coordinating and hosting New Employee Orientation (NEO) and Onboarding activities
  • Runs new-employee background checks and drug screens (SCR, SEL, CBC, MHL, etc.) critical to the smooth running of our Mission programs and maintain accurate records of certification / licensure
  • Aids in the completion and verification of Forms I-9 and supporting documents
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions and/or routes employee questions to relevant Human Resource Business Partners (HRBP)
  • Prepares and processes employee life cycle documentation, including employment verifications, onboarding and offboarding paperwork, status changes, etc. ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.

Data, Reporting & Compliance:

  • Contributes to and maintains accuracy of employee data and electronic employee files in HRIS in accordance with state and federal laws
  • Prepares ad hoc reports utilizing data from the HRIS as required (i.e. staffing/headcount, hours and other basic reports plus state / federally required reports)
  • Supports internal and external organizational / program audits by gathering and transmitting onboarding documents, tax documents and other HR records as needed


Other

  • Assists in preparing HR and organizational communications
  • Provides administrative support to the HR team including processing departmental invoices
  • Supporting the HR team for planning of special events
  • Basic administrative functions such as sorting and processing mail, mailing birthday cards and creating ID Badges

Activities are subject to change based on business needs.

Our Must Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year of Human Resources experience
  • Must be able to work onsite at GW Headquarters at least two days per week.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with focus on Excel (v-lookup, pivot tables, formulas, etc.) and Power Point
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic familiarity with Human Resources principles, practices and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and handle/prioritize multiple projects/daily work.
  • Ability to keep a cool head and function in a fast-paced environment
  • Problem-solving, including being able to identify issues and bring forth solutions timely
  • Working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now or Dayforce preferred.
