The Healthy Home Academy is a workforce training organization based in Brewster, NY, dedicated to preparing individuals for careers in energy efficiency, high-efficiency HVAC, and healthy, resilient housing through hands-on, industry-aligned instruction. The Academy was created in 2021 after it was apparent that prospective employees were ill prepared for the eco-science building industry. 100% Scholarship - No Cost to Participants
Sustainable Westchester is recruiting applicants for a career training program offered by The Healthy Home Academy. This program is provided at no cost to participants through a full scholarship and is designed for individuals interested in starting a career in the clean energy and building trades, with a focus on improving home comfort, efficiency, and sustainability.
This is a career training and job readiness program, not a traditional class. Participants who successfully complete the program will earn industry-recognized certifications, including BPI Building Science Principles, Mitsubishi M&P Installation Essentials, EPA 608 Universal and The Department of Labor OSHA10 certification. Graduates will also receive job placement support.

Program Description
This program focuses on modern heating and cooling systems, with an emphasis on high-efficiency heat pump technology.
Training includes:
- Building science fundamentals related to heating and cooling
- Basics of HVAC and heat pump systems
- Installation, maintenance, and system operation concepts
- Hands-on field training with real equipment
This is an immersive program that relies on full participation. Participants are expected to attend all sessions, actively engage in learning, and complete required assignments and exams. When program expectations are not met, continued participation may not be possible.
Program length: 5 weeks
Program Requirements
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be a resident of a state-designated Disadvantaged Community (DAC). DACs are communities identified by New York State as facing higher environmental, health, and economic burdens. Please use this link to search for your address and determine if you live within a DAC.
- Be physically able to perform hands-on work, including lifting to 50 lbs and standing or working on your feet for up to 8 hours per day
- Have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Be interested in pursuing a long-term career, not short-term or temporary work
