Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team in Oriskany, New York. This role is a Contract-to-permanent position, offering the opportunity to contribute to core accounting functions within the insurance industry. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in managing general ledger activities, reconciliations, and financial operations for multiple entities.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee and maintain general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Manage financial operations for three smaller subsidiary companies, providing detailed reporting and analysis.
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice management and payment tracking.
• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to company policies.
• Assist with month-end close procedures, including account reconciliation and financial statement preparation.
• Utilize accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, or SAP to streamline workflows and maintain records.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth financial operations and address accounting inquiries.• At least 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on general ledger and reconciliations.
• Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proficiency in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Strong knowledge of accounting software, including NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, or SAP.
• Experience with bank reconciliations and journal entry preparation.
• Familiarity with month-end close procedures and financial reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
