Department: Operations / Logistics


Position Overview:

The Truck Dispatcher will coordinate and manage truck deliveries, ensuring efficient scheduling, clear communication, and optimal use of resources to meet client expectations and operational goals. The dispatcher will serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, coordinating routes, handling logistical issues, and maintaining records for smooth transportation operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and dispatch drivers and vehicles to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, or operational needs.
  • Monitor routes and status of field units to coordinate and prioritize schedules effectively.
  • Maintain regular communication with drivers to address issues, reroute as necessary, and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Track and document shipment status, deliveries, delays, or issues, providing real-time updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
  • Assist in resolving operational challenges such as delays, breakdowns, or customer complaints.
  • Maintain accurate dispatch records, logs, and reports.
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance and inspections to ensure fleet readiness.
  • Foster strong relationships with drivers, customers, and logistics partners.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework or degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a dispatcher or in logistics/transportation.
  • Knowledge of trucking routes, geography, DOT regulations, and hours-of-service compliance.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and manage stress effectively.
  • Proficiency in dispatch and logistics software systems, and familiarity with GPS tracking technologies.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, or holidays as operational demands require.


Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience with fleet management software.
  • Knowledge of freight brokerage and load management.
  • Bilingual communication skills are a plus.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and using computer equipment.


Compensation and Benefits:

Salary based on experience: $20 to $25 per hour to start.


Reporting Relationship:

Reports directly to the Operations Manager or Logistics Coordinator.
