Job Description

The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of Eataly’s Food Safety and other health and safety related matters to meet Eataly’s targets, mission and policies regarding food safety and workplace safety. The aim of the Health and Safety Manager is to meet and exceed all food safety regulations, work safety regulations, and general sanitation and to ensure all staff is fully versed on state and local rules and regulations as well as Eataly goals and that excellent safety standards are consistently met. Additionally, the Health and Safety Manager supports the store sustainability and works alongside the department managers to maintain those standards.

Reports to the Head of Health and Safety.

  • Daily checks of each restaurant and retail space to ensure standards for health and safety are met to the strictest of regulations
  • Maintains a database of all of permits, licenses, related contracts, related manager certifications
  • Monitors recall reports, labels reviews and approvals as well as implementing processes to ensure products in question are removed
  • Manages cleanliness, safety levels and proper expiration dates in all products
  • Documents, investigates, and resolves all foodborne illness related incidents including inspection violations and guest complaints and directs escalates issues to the appropriate outlet
  • Works closely with related team members to ensure effective implementation and compliance with new products or practices
  • Provides support and direction as required by means of audits, inspections, training, and consultation to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies (DOH, OSHA, EPA, etc.)
  • Manages third party contractor relationships relating to housekeeping and pest control as well as initiate and maintain efforts to reduce waste
  • Orders supplies, and merchandise as needed for their department(s) including proper chemicals, testing strips, etc.
  • Adheres to all company and department procedures, policies, expectations and quality standards
  • Oversees training and development of other staff directly and/or indirectly and provides coaching, direction, and leadership support
  • Assists in zero waste compliance regarding trash, recycling, compost
  • Collects and updates Safety Data Sheets
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in management, nutrition, health and safety or a related field preferred
  • 3 + years of food safety management experience preferred
  • Restaurant or food retail experience required
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DOH regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Outstanding analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, motivation and team-building skills

Job Requirements

  • Ability to exert well-paced mobility for long periods of time

The annual salary for this role is: $80,000- $90,000
