Job Description:
Medix's Valhalla-based client in Westchester County is seeking a Customer Service Representative to join its Admitting/Patient Access Department. This in-person role is ideal for candidates who are customer-focused, detail-oriented, and interested in healthcare administration. You will serve as a critical liaison for patients, families, and providers, helping to verify insurance coverage, resolve billing questions, and update patient information.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage a high volume of inbound calls regarding admissions, billing, and insurance.

Verify patient insurance coverage and benefit eligibility using various systems and portals.

Accurately update patient demographic and insurance information.
-
Process payments over the phone, including co-pays and deductibles.

Communicate financial responsibilities clearly to patients and offer basic guidance on payment options.

Collaborate with internal departments (Billing, Scheduling, Clinical) to ensure smooth patient intake.

Follow HIPAA and internal privacy standards when handling patient data.

Escalate complex inquiries to the appropriate supervisor or team.
Qualifications:
Required:

Strong customer service skills-empathetic, patient, and professional.

Familiarity with insurance types (commercial and government).

Comfortable handling sensitive information with confidentiality.

Excellent verbal communication and documentation skills.

Must be willing and able to work fully in-person at the Valhalla, NY location.
Preferred:
-
Experience using Cerner EMR or similar healthcare systems.

Previous experience in a medical office, billing, or admissions setting.

Knowledge of insurance verification, EOBs, and healthcare billing practices.
