Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Social Services provides direct leadership and oversight of The Woodstock Hotel social service programs. The Assistant Director of Social Services provides direct administrative as well as clinical supervision to a team comprised of social workers, case managers, housing specialists, peer specialists, student interns and/or paraprofessional trainees. This position reports to the Director of Social Services; providing backup coverage when needed.



Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Director of Social Services, the position is responsible for all social service functions. Core-Critical functions to include:

Administrative

The Assistant Director of Social Services is responsible for service planning and delivery, any related correspondence and/ or documentation of services, and meeting funder expectations and requirements.

Core Administrative Duties:

  • Provide and supervise the provision of case management and supportive counseling services related to Woodstock tenants and HIR+ consumers functioning in the home and/ or in the community that enhance health, safety, socialization, and overall quality of life. This may include encouraging the control of clutter and treatment of hoarding behavior.
  • Help coordinate intake process along with Property Management staff, including scheduling of interviews, reviewing applications for tenancy, following up with referral agencies, tracking tenant movement for reporting.
  • Provide weekly supervision of staff to enhance and ensure successful service delivery and outcomes.
  • Complete monthly DHS reports and quarterly OTDA reports.
  • Conduct chart reviews to ensure adherence to funder deliverables and guidelines.
  • Provide maintenance andadministratedatabases including but not limited to AWARDS, CAPS andBamboo HR.
  • Co-facilitate bi-weekly Social Work/Property Management meeting, as needed.
  • Implement group events and meetings, including ongoing support groups and monthly tenant meetings.
  • Assist in the collection, review and reporting of Project FIND social service outputs, policies, and procedures, including providing coverage and back-up to the Director of Social Services and on call service after hours as needed.
  • Provide support totheFundraising Department on grants and reports pertaining to social work programs.
  • Serve as liaison to DHS, OTDA, and other contract and non-contract agencies as needed.
  • Ensure collaborative efforts with interagency departments such as the Older Adult Center and Property Management.
  • Recommend and monitor program fiscal purchases and budget expenses. Provide detailed ordering/purchasing suggestions to Director of Social Service for approval and execution.
  • Participate in Board and/ or Board Committee meetings, as needed.
  • Managing and maintaining accurate data in the property management electronic records systems including: JotForm, Bamboo HR, Yardi, CAPS and AWARDS.

Client Care

The Assistant Director of Social Services oversees the efficacy, efficiency and quality of evidence-based services and supports designed to support and enhance consumers lives.

Critical Client Care:

  • Provide and supervise the provision of case management and supportive counseling services related to Woodstock tenants and HIR+ consumers functioning in the home and/ or in the community that enhance health, safety, socialization, and overall quality of life. This may include encouraging the control of clutter and treatment of hoarding behavior.
  • Help coordinate intake process along with Property Management staff, including scheduling of interviews, reviewing applications for tenancy, following up with referral agencies, tracking tenant movement for reporting.
  • Provide weekly supervision of staff to enhance and ensure successful service delivery and outcomes.
  • Develop and evaluate systems to guarantee quality and efficiency of casework services.
  • Ensure service plans and interactions with the clients are appropriately documented.
  • Ensure that clients are appropriately screened, evaluated, and processed for all potential benefits and entitlements.
  • Conduct case review audits and provide corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Review all required case management documentation and any data collection tool in use.
  • Ensure clear, concise, and professional interventions consistent with the Agency's policies and procedures and evidence-based practices.
  • Ensure program compliance with all applicable contract regulations, including DHS, HUD and OTDA requirements.
  • Provide crisis intervention and stabilization as needed.

Staff Development

The Assistant Director of Social Services is expected to guide and implement the training and development of staff and interns to ensure awareness of current trends and best practices, and to foster personal and professional growth.

Core Staff Development:

  • Train social work staff to identify and develop need-based strategies to approach service recipients.
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring and onboarding of social service staff.
  • Participate in professional development and training through agency-wide in-service trainings, outside trainings, and facilitate in-house trainings for staff as needed.
  • Direct or delegate the field/task supervision of interns within the department.

Human Resources

The Assistant Director of Social Services will complete performance evaluations and disciplinary actions and administrate day-to-day employee human resource tasks.

Core Human Resources:

  • Supervise direct reports and provide feedback through meetings, appraisals, and progressive disciplinary process when necessary.
  • Process timesheets for direct reports and oversee the timesheet process for the program in Bamboo HR.


Communication

The Assistant Director of Social Services will interface with various Project Find departments, as well as multiple external providers.

  • Coordinate with the Property Management team to attend to tenant leases, rent payments, rental assistance, housing vouchers, and other housing related tasks, as needed.
  • Coordinate social service activities and communication with all Front Desk staff.
  • Interface with the on-site medical and psychiatry providers to coordinate and plan service delivery, including facilitation of monthly interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Coordinate with the Building Maintenance team to ensure adherence to guidelines for environmental cleanliness and safety of public areas and tenants apartments, as needed.



Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Social Work or related field(s) is preferred.
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience in a shelter or residential setting that provides comprehensive social services, housing placement, and/ or job skills training to older adults, homeless persons, persons with mental health conditions, and/or substance users.
  • Knowledge of geriatric care and the aging process for older adults.
  • History working with persons with disabilities.
  • Experience with Homeless Services and affiliated contract requirements in NYC.
  • Strong assessment, direct practice, counseling, supervision, community outreach, group leadership skills and program development experience with an aging population preferred.
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, AWARDS, CAPS preferred.


Project FIND participates in E-Verify, which confirms employment authorization through an electronic database maintained by the Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security. The E-Verify process is completed in conjunction with the Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification. E-Verify is not used as a tool to pre-screen candidates.
