About the Role:

We are seeking a highly organized and knowledgeable Employee Benefits Specialist to join a leading construction firm. This role is critical in managing and administering employee benefit programs for both union and non-union employees, while ensuring full compliance with federal and New Jersey state regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage all employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k)/pension plans, and union-specific benefits.

  • Coordinate open enrollment and ongoing benefit changes throughout the year.

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, including ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, and New Jersey programs like NJ Paid Family Leave and Temporary Disability Insurance.

  • Liaise with unions, insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators.

  • Prepare and submit required reports to agencies such as the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), IRS, EEOC, and New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development (NJDOL).

  • Serve as the primary contact for employee benefit inquiries and resolve issues efficiently.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to employee benefits and compliance.

  • Assist with internal and external audits to ensure all benefit processes are audit-ready.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in employee benefits administration.

  • Direct experience handling both union and non-union benefit plans is required.

  • Strong knowledge of federal regulations (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA) and New Jersey-specific programs (e.g., NJ Paid Family Leave, NJ Disability Insurance).

  • Construction industry or blue-collar workforce experience is a strong asset.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
