About the Role:
We are seeking a highly organized and knowledgeable Employee Benefits Specialist to join a leading construction firm. This role is critical in managing and administering employee benefit programs for both union and non-union employees, while ensuring full compliance with federal and New Jersey state regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

Administer and manage all employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k)/pension plans, and union-specific benefits.

Coordinate open enrollment and ongoing benefit changes throughout the year.

Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, including ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, and New Jersey programs like NJ Paid Family Leave and Temporary Disability Insurance.

Liaise with unions, insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators.

Prepare and submit required reports to agencies such as the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), IRS, EEOC, and New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development (NJDOL).

Serve as the primary contact for employee benefit inquiries and resolve issues efficiently.

Maintain accurate records and documentation related to employee benefits and compliance.

Assist with internal and external audits to ensure all benefit processes are audit-ready.
Qualifications:

5 years of experience in employee benefits administration.

Direct experience handling both union and non-union benefit plans is required.

Strong knowledge of federal regulations (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA) and New Jersey-specific programs (e.g., NJ Paid Family Leave, NJ Disability Insurance).

Construction industry or blue-collar workforce experience is a strong asset.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
