Job Description

Watson Bowman Acme, a Sika company, is a manufacturer and supplier of expansion joint solutions for the transportation sector, including bridge and highway fabrication, preservation, and tunnels. We are looking to hire an Estimator located in Amherst, New York.

Primary responsibility of this position is to serve as the point of contact for the Sales team by creating accurate takeoffs and quotations in the Infrastructure target market (bridge and tunnel). Prepare estimates that include calculation of materials, engineering time, shop labor, subcontract scope if required, and shipping and handling charges. This role will also evaluate project bid specifications and drawings ensuring the Sales team is accurately informed to position WBA properly and competitively in the marketplace. This role will work closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production to understand internal capabilities, and partner with Procurement to obtain subcontract material and labor pricing with lead times as required.

Annual Salary Range: $60,000-80,000 based on education, experience, and qualifications of applicant.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Engineering or Construction discipline; Bachelor’s degree in a similar field is preferred.
  • Previous related experience in steel fabrication, manufacturing, general construction, or bridge construction is preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office, especially Excel. Previous experience using SAP or ProCore to create estimates and quotations is preferred.
  • A thorough understanding of contract documents, with ability to independently act and respond to commercial and technical inquiries.
  • Strong technical aptitude in order to provide technical support and product recommendations in support of growth opportunities and initiatives.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills, including active listening skills with internal and external customers; ability to collaborate with various departments to coordinate estimates, and ability to develop partnerships with customers on project-specific opportunities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and objectives simultaneously; provide accurate information and deliverables on time.
  • Demonstrate initiative, take ownership of the process, and drive continuous improvement.
