Position Summary:

The Lead Bartender is responsible for overseeing bar operations across all service areas at Penfield Country Club. This includes ensuring a consistently high-quality member and guest experience, supervising bartenders, managing inventory, placing beverage orders, and maintaining cleanliness and compliance with all health and safety standards. The ideal candidate is professional, organized, proactive, and passionate about hospitality.

Key Responsibilities:

Bar Operations & Service:

  • Lead daily bar service during events, member dining, and tournaments.

  • Provide exceptional service to members and guests, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

  • Maintain knowledge of the club’s beverage offerings, including wine, beer, spirits, and seasonal specialty cocktails.

  • Ensure consistency and quality in drink preparation and presentation.

Team Leadership & Training:

  • Supervise and support bartending staff, including scheduling, training, and day-to-day performance.

  • Serve as a mentor and point of contact for bar staff, ensuring adherence to club service standards.

  • Assist in onboarding and training new bartenders.

Ordering & Inventory Management:

  • Maintain accurate inventory of all bar-related products, including spirits, beer, wine, mixers, and bar supplies.

  • Conduct weekly inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies with the F&B Director.

  • Generate and place regular orders with vendors to ensure appropriate stock levels.

  • Monitor product usage to minimize waste and control costs.

  • Maintain organized and clean storage areas for all bar supplies and beverages.

Event Support:

  • Coordinate with the F&B and Events teams to plan and execute beverage service for banquets, weddings, tournaments, and member events.

  • Set up and break down bar stations in event spaces as needed.

  • Ensure bar readiness with necessary tools, garnishes, and supplies for each service.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure adherence to all health department, alcohol service, and club safety regulations.

  • Maintain bar cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in line with health code requirements.

  • Enforce responsible alcohol service and check IDs when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of bartending experience; 1+ years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.

  • Experience in private club, hospitality, or upscale dining environment strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of wine, beer, and spirits; mixology skills a plus.

  • Ability to lead a team and communicate effectively with staff and management.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Extended periods of standing and walking.

  • Reaching, bending, and working in various bar setups and environments.
