Niche optometry practice seeking an adaptable, highly organized individual, with strong prioritization, multi-tasking, and people skills who can balance both administrative and patient care responsibilities.
As the sole employee, the ideal candidate will be dynamic and efficient with the ability to to keep the office running smoothly on a day-to-day basis while strategically helping to grow the practice.
Administrative responsibilities will include: coordinating patient care, responding to email correspondence, invoicing and billing, helping to write medical reports and correspondence, assisting with all daily operations, other general office duties, daily organizing and maintaining of a tidy environment.
During busy patient care hours (after school and evenings), the role will include hands-on patient care, assisting and documenting patient encounters into electronic health records, and once trained, working directly with patients during vision therapy sessions. Paid certification training and on-the-job in vision therapy will be provided.
As a vision therapy assistant, you will work one-to-one with patients, coaching and motivating them through exercises and games that will strengthen their visual skills. Vision therapy helps our patients overcome visual problems that are impacting their ability to perform well in school, work, or life. This is both fun and meaningful work! No previous vision therapy experience is required, but experience with working with young children or previous medical experience in strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate will have a learner’s attitude and must be able to learn and apply medical/technical information quickly, be comfortable with math, science (lots of optics, physics and biology!) and be tech-saavy. We use virtual reality, eye-tracking and other advanced technologies in the office. They should also have a naturally empathetic and people-oriented disposition, and be able to function as part of a team and independently, in a fast-paced environment.
This is a long-term position (1 year commitment, minimum) with room for growth, and the opportunity to build a rewarding career serving the community.
Approximate Hours: (~20-30 per week)
Mon-Thurs ~12-7pm (will vary day to day)
