POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the WIC Coordinator, the WIC Program Clerk is tasked with managing the WIC Reception area, including the front desk, conducting program orientation, gathering information, making referrals, and ensuring compliance with State WIC Policy and Procedures.
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Screen eligible participants for WIC enrollment by collecting information for identity, income and residency as outlined by NYS WIC Program.
- Conduct WIC program orientation, explain program benefits, issue WIC card, assist participant in setting up WIC2GO app, and provide list of authorized vendors.
- Review WIC Rights and Responsibilities with participants and obtain participant signature.
- General reception duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, rescheduling missed appointments, making reminder calls, marking participants onsite and greeting participants
- Provide referrals for health and social services and document in participant’s record.
- Offer all participants the opportunity to register to vote, submit Voter Registration Forms on a weekly basis, and may serve as the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) Coordinator.
- Issue Farmers’ Market benefits to eligible participants and provide market schedules.
- Attend mandatory WIC State trainings and meetings locally or at the WIC Learning Center, as assigned.
- Maintain participant confidentiality in compliance with NYS WIC Program.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma/GED and one year of clerical experience preferred.
- AA/AS in Administration or related field preferred
- Intermediate use of standard Microsoft Office & Internet required.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English); strongly preferred.
- Experience with providing customer service and computer data entry, including volunteer experience.
