Job Description

Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on, strategic, and detail-oriented Controller to oversee all aspects of finance and accounting. As a stand-alone role reporting directly to the President & CEO, this individual will serve as the financial backbone of the company — responsible for accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, cash management, and supporting strategic decision-making. This is an exciting opportunity to build and own the finance function at a rapidly growing company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process; prepare accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning in collaboration with the CEO and department heads.
  • Maintain internal controls and implement scalable financial processes as the company grows.
  • Manage banking relationships, cash flow forecasting, and working capital.
  • Prepare financial analyses to support strategic initiatives, pricing, and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, payroll, inventory, general ledger, and tax compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and all relevant tax and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with external CPA firm for tax filings, audit support, and year-end reporting.
  • Evaluate and implement accounting systems or tools to support automation and reporting.
  • Responsible for processing payroll and record associated journal entries as well as track vacation time for employees

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience; experience in consumer products, retail, or food & beverage industry a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Proven ability to build and manage finance functions in an entrepreneurial or early-stage environment.
  • Hands-on approach with a willingness to roll up your sleeves.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present financial insights to non-finance leadership.
  • Experience with inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and margin analysis strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in NetSuite a plus.
